Family Art Day provides interactive art experience

Family Art Day, River Arts Alliance’s annual event, was held over the labor day weekend and over 500 people participated in the event according to KIMT3. The event provides an opportunity for artists to work with children and families and create a piece of art work to take home. There were 17 different artists who worked with participants to make “wacky-looking hats,” throw a piece of pottery, paint a mural, or weave a piece of cloth. A goal of the event was “expose kids to different kinds of art that they might not get to interact with in school.”  Johanna Rupprecht, RAA’s arts administrator, thinks that the event helps children explore the creative process and that it may eventually spark an interest in a career in the arts.
