Description This Victorian square is a pleasant place for a stroll, and its octagonal gazebo surrounded by red geraniums and garden perennials is a popular location for weddings. William Windom, for whom the park was named, lived across the street in the 1870's, served in the U.S. Congress and Senate for a total of 24 years, and was twice Secretary of the Treasury
The fountain in Windom Park with its sculptures of large turtles and pelicans cascading water to the feet of the Indian Maiden Wenonah was donated in 1900 by Wm J. Landon in memory of his wife Ida Cone Landon. |
