Winona County History Center

Located in historic downtown Winona, the Winona County History Center is made up of the old Armory (1915) and the award-winning contemporary Laird Norton Addition (2010), and houses three floors of exhibits, The Museum Shop, multiple programming and event spaces, the Laird Lucas Library and Archives and more!

Explore our past in interesting and fun exhibits, both permanent and traveling. Also, attend the many programs and events offered. Find your roots or delve into historical research in the Laird Lucas Library and Archives.

The Museum Shop

The Winona County History Center Museum Shop features many locally made items from area artisans including jewelry, knits, pottery, photography, art prints, and more. The large gift shop also has Winona and Minnesota apparel, local and regional books, souvenirs, and art. Plus Victorian and vintage-inspired decor, games, toys and old fashioned treats can be found. Locals and visitors love to shop the Museum Shop!

Take a closer look at the historical places and people of Winona with a walking tour! Brush up on your local trivia for prizes. All tours are fully guided and are an hour long. Each tour leaves from and returns to the Winona County History Center and includes a cold beverage from our refreshment selections.

10:30 Windom Park Historic District
Explore the architecture of the Windom Park Historic District with one of our local guides. Learn more about the era when Winona had the most millionaires per capita in the U.S. as we examine the architecture and lives lived in the grand homes of this neighborhood. Centered in Windom Park is the statue of We-no-nah. Hear about the mystery and history surrounding this legendary figure and the many meanings she holds.
